Estimator Calculations

We use industry standard labor times, market-based labor rates, and MSRP (Factory List) for OEM and OEM-equivalent aftermarket parts.

Parts

Parts pricing is MSRP (Factory List) for OEM and OEM-equivalent aftermarket parts.

Labor Time

We calculate labor times using an industry data provider (MOTOR) which more closely aligns with ALLDATA than Mitchell. There can be discrepancies between the two systems in some cases, and in rare cases ours may be the lesser of the 2. In those cases we will cover the difference; we will stand behind the labor time if you use an industry standard labor guide for calculating times and we are off.

Labor Rate

Labor rates are calculated by region using data collected from thousands of independent shops and franchise dealerships across the country. If a rate is suspected of being incorrect we can perform an analysis to determine if an adjustment is needed. Submit rate analysis requests to estimatefeedback@repairpal.com.

Our estimator does not include:

  • Diagnosis
  • Environmental fees (HazMat)
  • Taxes
  • Shop fees
  • Add-ons (parts and/or labor)

Best Practices
